f you've been tracking the site for the last few weeks, you've probably noticed the substantial progress made in skinning it. Skinning is, of course, a bit misleading since much of my skinning time has been spent adding new functionality to SubText (the blogging package I'm using).
As of this weekend, several of the features I initially envisioned have come to pass, including:
- the collapsible zone menu which originally began as an attempt to add subcategories to SubText and ended up an implementation of "category groupings"
- the customized "viewpost" control implementing drop caps
- a quick patch to the SubText Framework assembly to allow the Word 2007 integration feature to support images (which I used when creating the site overview)
For sample subject matter during this development cycle, I ported over a few articles from OnyxRing, but before I begin blogging in earnest there remain a few additions that I anticipate completing first. As much as a TODO list for myself as a notice of what to expect, I'll list them below:
- extend the article system to recognize related series of posts and generate a quick navigation mechanism for these
- implement the syndication page from the "action menu"
- validate the comment system is working
- replace various buttons from the comment controls and the search button with something more in line with the Coding Monk theme
- re-introduce traditional blog controls for viewing past blogs
- add a SubText category to host a few posts on my particular take on building SubText controls
